Hey, Gratisouls welcome to the last part of my CONFUSED LIFE series. (Although, I’ll not call it the last part because I’ll be writing about these General questions later on as well, whenever I’ll come up with one myself or any of you Gratisouls ask me to answer them for you #AlwaysThereForYou!!)
As we grow up, we experience REAL LIFE. And as Monica Geller aka Courtney Cox from my favorite TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. said “Welcome to the real life. It sucks. You’re gonna love it!” It’s actually true…
While we are facing reality, it tends to show both of its side i.e. good and bad. We love the good side and never want it to end and we can’t figure out the bad side and want it to end ASAP!! (That’s human nature, yes, we all are selfish and only want to experience the good phase of life, because let’s be real that bad phase feels like experiencing ‘bad hair days for the rest of our lives or sometimes even worse than that…)
But that’s not in our control. We can’t control when the bad days will end so that we can experience the good ones again. The only things that we can control are OURSELVES and OUR REACTIONS towards these experiences.
So, if you want to stay in control and also change your response towards how you are dealing with your current situation so that you can stay motivated throughout your journey, come what may, then read these 5 tips which can help you align with your goals.
5 TRICKS TOWARDS SELF-IMPROVEMENT
FIND YOUR PURPOSE
Often, we face all the mental confusion and dilemma about our future because we do not have a purpose, a goal, a certain and definite direction in life. And all this present dilemma becomes our future tension and as a result, we feel low in motivation to get up again and work hard for ourselves.
How to find your purpose/ lost motivation?
1. Go old school.
Take a paper and pen and list down all the things that you like to do now and that you loved to do when you were a kid. (Trust me all those weird childhood habits that we ignored in the rat race of modern times is what drives us towards our goal) So if you loved to paint as a kid, start painting as a hobby again and maybe that can give you a purpose later on.
2. Try out different things. Experiment.
You should experiment with life before settling. Don’t think about how things will work out. JUST EXPERIMENT. If you don’t like it then switch. At least you’ll know about what you don’t want to do and you can cut that option permanently.
3. Don’t follow others blindly.
When we can’t figure out what we actually want to do in life, we follow what others around us are doing and think that we can also do that. There is no harm in following others if that work brings you happiness. But if you are doing it just for the sake of it and you think that you don’t have any other option or you want to become financially independent to support your family on the expense of your happiness and inner-satisfaction then that goal of yours will not be able to take you a long way. Sooner or later, you’ll drain out and think that you have accomplished nothing.
So, instead of following others, chose your own path.
4. Stay motivated. Things will work out in your favor soon.
We often get discouraged when we see people of our age group progressing while we are stuck. It’s human. Don’t worry. Stop seeing other’s life and focus on shaping yours instead. If things are not working out in your favor, then introspect within yourself. Maybe it’s because of your lack of efforts or maybe because of your lack of dedication. Well, whatever might be the reason, just focus on improving yourself and staying motivated throughout the journey. It is tough to stay motivated all the time and you might re-lapse often.
But you have to pick yourself up, give yourself positive affirmations and start working again. (That’s why self-love and self-care are so important)
5. Avoid FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)
Your bunch of friends called you for a chill Saturday night and you have already made plans for yourself to complete your deadline and finish that work. But in the fear of missing out that ‘maybe memorable party’ with your friends who will continue to talk about how ‘amazing it was and will make you feel guilty that you missed out a lot’ is what will become a hindrance in your goal.
Because of FOMO we attend events and avoid our priorities and then complain that maybe it was never in our ‘DESTINY’. (It might have been in your destiny and you might have been successful if you tried to miss some of those late-night parties…)
Don’t fear the FOMO and prioritize yourself and your goals first. Your friends and those parties aren’t going anywhere. But your precious time is. So, use it wisely!
