What to do in life?
GENERAL QUESTIONS

Struggling to answer ‘What should I do with my life?’

Are you a parent whose kid is confused about what to pursue in his/her higher studies?

Do you pressurize your child to ace that exam even if his/her interest lies somewhere else?

Are you that person who wants to pursue ‘something different’ but confused between what, how and when?

Are you in school but want to pursue a creative field in your college and want to gain the courage to tell this to your family?

If the answer to any of the above question is a ‘YES’ then keep on reading and welcome to the second episode of my blog series!!

If you have missed the first part, follow the link!! Go read it, I am waiting for you…

Felt motivated? Now let’s talk about our education system and how to go beyond studies!!

Our education system focuses primarily on theoretical knowledge and thus we are unaware about all the practical and numerous ways out there through which we can make it ‘big’ in life even if we are not good in studies.

Pythagoras Theorem will not help you make money, your skills and experience will. And how will you gain that experience if you’re still searching for your ‘X’ and don’t know ‘Y’.

You’re living in the 21st century…

21st century

If you say that, ‘I love painting, but there is no money in it’, I’ll say you gotta be kidding me!! Don’t have enough money and time to learn painting? Don’t worry learn it on YouTube, make a masterpiece and sell it on platforms that have a requirement for your beautiful artwork. There are numerous apps, social media sites, art websites that search for freelancers, people who have a passion for creativity and art connoisseurs who wants to buy your painting. Or you can give it back to YouTube by being a YouTuber and make videos on how to paint like a pro (#GiveAndTake)

YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE AND SOMEDAY, SO WHY NOT NOW?

SCARED TO TELL YOUR PARENTS?

Most of the times, our dreams are crushed because of thinking about ‘What will people say?’ and the rest of the times we fear to convey about our dreams and aspirations to our parents.

Confusion

I get it when people say that, ‘my parents don’t know about this profession because it’s new and hence they’ll not support me.’ But tell me one thing, whose task is it to make them understand about it all? Yours, right? We are not scared to tell our parents about our passion, we are scared to convince ourselves about it. We are scared about how our future will work out if we take the ‘road less traveled by’?

BEFORE CONVINCING OTHERS, CONVINCE YOURSELF FIRST.

DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Yes, apart from finishing that assignment, passing that exam, having a social life and keeping yourself hydrated, you have to think about your career interest as well. (Talk about real-life struggles…)

If you yourself are not aware of the ins and outs of your career interest then how can you convince your parents about it with full confidence?

What to do in life?

You have to start looking up for where your interest lies, what is the future scope, how can you make your way through it. HAVE A PRECISE VISION OF YOUR GOAL.

If you have a definite vision, well and good, if not then you now know what your first step is.

FOCUS ON YOUR ‘PLAN A

I completed my graduation as a Food technology engineer. Most people might not know about what exactly is this profile, some might confuse it with a chef or working in the hotel industry. Well, let me clarify it that none of that is true. We don’t cook food, we study its processing, manufacturing, safety, etc. Found this field interesting? Well, here goes another option into your ‘career-interest list’.

I graduated, I got experience in this field as a food safety auditor yet there was a part inside me that was not satisfied. I ALWAYS HAD THIS DREAM OF DOING SOMETHING OF ‘MY OWN’. Belonging to a business family, I guess I developed that mindset to make your own path by doing it on your own. So, I started blogging where I used to express whatever I experienced around me or with me.

Planning

It was a 50-50 effort that I had been giving to my own vision. After my last bad experience in my job, I took a digital detox to clear out my mind, started writing again and sharing my experiences again. But this time the only difference is that I have made this passion of mine as my PLAN A and let’s see how it goes. I don’t know if it’ll become successful or not, but at least I’ll have that satisfaction of ‘I tried and gave my best’. Rest is on destiny! But right now my main focus is building my dream.

‘WHAT IF IT DOESN’T WORK?’

Starting from the scratch can be risky, there will be days when you’ll question yourself if you’re doing it right or not, but if your gut feeling is strong, those voices inside your head will ultimately stop forcing you to go against your will, because this time you’ll have a definite plan, a focused vision, and nobody to blame or appreciate, but yourself. (Ah, so exciting!)

MAKE YOUR ‘PLAN A’ AND WORK TOWARDS IT. DON’T HAVE A BACKUP PLAN BECAUSE THAT MEANS THAT YOUR PLAN A WILL NOT WORK. DO YOU WANT THAT? NO, RIGHT? THEN STOP WASTING YOUR TIME TO MAKE ‘PLAN B, C, D’ AND START WORKING TOWARDS YOUR ‘PLAN A’ RELENTLESSLY.

NOW IS THE TIME.

When you have completed your research, assignments, studied for that exam, struggled to make a balanced social life and kept yourself hydrated, now is the time to hustle. (Wait, all that past hard work wasn’t hustle? I don’t want to adult Goddddd….)

Don’t get disheartened, kids. That was just a starting point for your hustle. When you have a clear perspective of your goal, you now have the courage to tell your parents about it with full confidence.

“I want to become a singer mom. Here is a PowerPoint presentation which will tell you all about how I’ll do it and what are its future benefits.

When your parents will see all that confidence oozing out of you, they will definitely support you and let you give your dreams a fair try!! After all, they are your parents, they’ll be protective of you but at the end of the day, they will want you to succeed in whatever that makes you happy.

Time Management

SHOW THEM THAT YOU ARE READY. SHOW THEM THAT YOU ARE CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO PROTECT YOUR OWN DREAM, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SHOW YOURSELF THAT YOU CAN DO IT NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES.

GO GET IT GRATISOULS!!

I hope I have lighted the fuel to your inner vision and you are going straight to your laptops to make that powerpoint presentation!!

For the next question to be answered, wait for my next blog…

Also, if you have any other life-related question you can ask them in the comments below and I’ll make that as a part of this series!!

Until then live positively and happily!!

XOXO
