WE WERE ON A BREAK
DISCLAIMER: I’m a die-hard F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan and I have watched the entire series idk at least 20-30 times because I stopped counting it after the 10th time. So, this blog is inspired by my love for this series. And if you have watched this show you will get the title reference more clearly!! But if you know me, you know that that’s not exactly what I want to convey (Haha). Let me take you through this blog…
BREAK FROM LIFE…
Do you remember when you were in school and you used to get this break time where we used to forget all our tensions, our home-works, our exams, our assignments and just for those 20-30 minutes we used to do what we wanted to? No rules, no boundaries, no judgment because it was that ‘me-time’ which used to de-stress our life although just for a little while but it made us feel more energetic for the rest of our day. That school break was like a break from life, break from anything and everything that stressed you up, that made you feel all tensed up. Yeah, we didn’t realize the intellectual aspect of that break at that time but I guess now I can.

Now consider your life to be like school. (Not literally, because come on those were some innocent and carefree days which can never come back, so if you are still in school…. You are a lucky kid, cherish your days!!) You wake up every morning do your daily chores, go to your place of work or study (college/ workplace/ home-maker), do your work, take a lunch break, do some more work, come back exhausted and then repeat the same thing every day until weekend or any holiday and promise yourself that you’ll live your life on your off-day but that ‘tomorrow never comes’ and you become a part of this ‘never-ending vicious-circle’.
THE STRUGGLE IS REAL…
As we grow up, we are just burdened with responsibilities, family pressure, societal pressure, work pressure, relationship pressure and the list continues… but amidst all this, we forget to take care of ourselves. We forget to take that much required ‘me-time’. We forget to take our ‘refreshing break-time’. HUFFFFF…
Even writing about these adult problems is so exhausting (Haha). But there is a saying, “Don’t let the kid inside you die”. If you are a college student, burdened with all the classes and assignments and feeling that you have no time for your own, first of all, take a deep breath. Stand in front of a mirror and say this to yourself, “I am in charge of myself. I have my priorities straight. I’ll prioritize my education and my mental health parallelly. I CAN DO IT. I’LL GO THROUGH THIS AND GROW THROUGH THIS.” That’s the TED TALK for you (haha)!

If you are in the corporate world, don’t feel that you are all screwed up!! Nope, there’s a ray of hope for you too!! All you have to do is just fix a routine for yourself that gives you enough time and energy for self-growth and self-development. Remember that ‘Work-Life Balance’ we used to study about in our college? Bring that to practical use now!! It’ll be a little tough to juggle your work and your personal life together initially but once you get used to it, you’ll master the art of managing everything in your life. Just don’t forget to take out some time for yourself, it can either be throughout the day or at night before sleep.
If you are a home-maker, you are doing an excellent job…. Kudos!! So, if you want to take a break from your life, just take a day off from all your regular stuff, go out, explore your surroundings, or you can take up a hobby which you always wanted to do but didn’t get the time to do it. You can go for yoga, Zumba, or you can go for a soothing massage with your BFF’s that’ll calm your entire body and mind to make you feel all charged up!

Just say this to yourself… I AM IN CHARGE OF MY LIFE. I WILL DO WHAT MAKES MY SOUL HAPPY AND CONTENT.
PRIORITIZE YOURSELF
And that ‘break’ can be in any form. Listening to your favorite song, dancing alone while taking a shower, gardening, gymming, singing, playing an instrument, reading a book, writing, watching your favorite TV show (F.R.I.E.N.D.S. haha) etc. Just keep in mind that after you take this ‘break’ you should feel all positive, light and happy!! You don’t have to spend big bucks and go on a luxurious vacation. You can take a break right here, right now. All you have to do is, DISCONNECT FROM THE OUTER WORLD AND RE-CONNECT WITH YOURSELF.
So, let’s say in union…. “WE ARE ON A BREAK”!!
And WE WILL watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. irrespective of the fact that we have watched it before or not… (haha Just kidding)
Until then live positively and happily!!
XOXO
