I read this quote online that said “Talking kindly to yourself works the same talking shit does. Do it enough, you’ll start believing it.” and I really felt that our inner voice has a great impact on us. Wanna know why?
There was a phase in my life when I went completely negative about everything and everyone. The voices in my head were very harsh to me and my loved ones.
I felt scared of it so much that I started believing in it. I thought that if the voices in my head are saying something be it positive or negative, then it might come true. (Sounds crazy, right?)
Now when I look back at that phase I feel that I was letting myself be dominated by my own thoughts. I was the bigger person yet I was so into that voice that I accepted it as truth without questioning it.
Your Inner Voice Matters
When we go through a tough/ toxic/ disheartening situation, we feel that we’ll always remain stuck in that phase and it’s very hard to get back up again and move on.
We think of surrendering. We feel to give up just because we can’t find a solution to it then and there. Well, life doesn’t work like that. You have to be patient and gather yourself when you feel lost. You have to pick yourself up.
Because the way we feel in those low moments is all because of our overpowering demotivating inner voice. That’s not you who wants to give up, that’s your inner voice speaking on your behalf. Ever thought like this?
How to have a Motivating Inner voice?
There are many ways to do that. Some of them are-
1. PRACTICE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS.
In situations when you feel like you should give up, you should repeat in your mind that ‘No I don’t want to give up so soon, I’ll fight back. I want to stand up again and conquer.’
Meditation is very underrated because people are unaware of how effective it is to bring your mind, body, and your soul in equilibrium.
When I was going through my low phase, I meditated almost daily. Where I just sat in a dark room, played an ‘Om mantra’ in the background, and addressed whatever that I was going through then and how I can rise above it all. Meditation helped me a lot to gather a perspective and have the courage to surpass that phase strongly and now write about it.
3. FACT-CHECK YOUR THOUGHTS.
Whenever you find yourself talking ‘shit’ about yourself, just catch yourself then and there and replace it with one of your strengths.
Do this repeatedly and your inner voice will soon be motivating you like your family!
We are our own biggest strength and can become our biggest enemy as well. The choice is yours who you want to be for yourself. Motivate yourself. Root for yourself. Pick up yourself and conquer. Believe in yourself because you are meant to win big!
