Apart from protecting your physical health by staying at home during the Novel Corona Virus Pandemic and enjoying your Quarantine period, our mental health is important too.
Staying at one place for a long period of time can sometimes prove as a ‘much-needed break from our hectic lives’ and other times it can cause unnecessary ‘anxiety, overthinking and other mental health problems’ because we are not used to sitting at one place and just stay there for an entire day or as the current condition is going, for many weeks!!
So, your mental health might suffer a bit if not taken care of. Don’t worry I’ll give you some tips for that as well!!
3 Tips to Protect your Mental Health during Quarantine
Acknowledge your Emotions
If you are an overthinker like me and your mind begins to think random things as soon as you put your body to rest, then the first thing that you should do is acknowledge what you are feeling and why you are suddenly feeling it?
After that, either pen down your thoughts, distract yourself or talk to someone about it or any other random topic (for distraction).
Acknowledging what we are feeling is a mature way to deal with our problems.
Give Yourself a Reality Check
If whatever you are feeling is an actual thing then your feelings and emotions are valid. But if whatever you are feeling is because of something that your mind ‘made-up’ for you then you have to give yourself a reality check that its all in your head and whatever that you are thinking is not real.
After you have come to the conclusion that your mind is going way too fast and creating unnecessary problems for you, now is the time to create positive distractions for yourself.
1. Binge watch your fav TV show.
2. Eat something that instantly brightens up your mood.
3. Listen to your favorite song.
4. Organize your almirah/ book-shelf (as it’ll give you a feeling of productivity and accomplishment after you’ll clean up your mess)
5. Talk (Video call) to someone about any random topic
6. Go out in your balcony/ terrace and play some soothing songs while you look at the nature around you
7. Follow your hobby
