It’s the era of binge-watching those addictive TV shows and thriller movies that we don’t even realize how much information our mind is processing and what we are feeding to our subconscious mind.
That’s why we should consciously watch and consume media because we don’t know its later impact on our thought process.
Quarantine and Chill
Since we have been in lockdown for 10938474 years (yeah that’s how it feels now although its been 4-5 months, but you get me, right?) So, Netflix and Chill has been replaced with ‘Quarantine and chill’.
When this lockdown began, I’m sure we all were kinda relaxed. As it served as a much-needed break from our hectic lives. We were mindlessly binging our favorite shows, eating junk, and ‘having the time of our lives’.
I too watched a lot of shows and at that time I was enjoying it because it served as a refreshing break!
The power of our Subconscious Mind
Our mind is like a machine that works 24*7. (yes, even we are asleep!) And because of that, our subconscious mind also continuously stores in information which it later reminds us of in certain incidents.
For example, I was watching a lot of murder mysteries and TV thriller shows during the past couple of months. So, in between, there came a time when I was ideal because I didn’t have much work to do. So eventually my mind was ideal at that time.
And as the saying goes, an ideal mind is a devil’s workshop, my subconscious mind began creating incidents where I had negative thoughts about my family as if I was the main protagonist of a murder mystery tv show.
And since I was ideal, I began feeding my mind with more such thoughts which eventually made me feel anxious to the point where I was not able to realize that why is all this happening and why am I making up imaginary scenarios and feeling anxious about that?
To some, all this might not make much sense, but others might relate to it.
You must feed your mind with good memories
And that’s why I took a digital detox for my peace of mind so that I can acknowledge my emotions and figure out what’s going on! And the only conclusion that I came up with was that my mind was ideal so it was creating thoughts to keep myself busy.
I’ve written a blog for The Times of India about how this digital detox helped me to find my peace of mind, and how you can do it too!! You can read that blog by following the link below-
Try to indulge yourself into something good, something positive, something worth remembering rather than binging unnecessary shows and movies!
Now I’m not saying that you shouldn’t watch all that, I too watch them but now I make sure I watch something meaningful, light comedy or even if it’s a thriller I make sure that it’s a good thriller rather than just another mindless binge!
Conscious eating, conscious watching, and conscious consuming media is a great way to avoid unnecessary problems!
If you’ve been in this situation or are going through a somewhat similar situation then you are free to share your emotions and feelings in the comments below!!
Until then, live positively and happily!
