quotes on life

Hey Gratisouls!! How have you been? I want to ask you a quick question… has there been a point in your life where you tried to control things/situations/people so that you could have everything exactly as you planned? And did everything actually happened as you envisioned it? If yes, that’s great but mostly it doesn’t happen because you know why? Life is unpredictable and it has its own way of surprising us and preparing us for situations which we thought we couldn’t bear. That’s how beautiful life is, and we should embrace all the uncertainties.

We, humans, try to control everything around us, try to control our emotions, our future, our thoughts, and situations. But it doesn’t actually work like that. The more we try to control, the more it slips away from us. And that’s what leads to unnecessary disappointments, mood swings, and demotivation.

Quotes on Uncertainty of Life

You don’t know what can happen with you the next minute. You cannot be prepared for everything good or bad that life throws at you.  All you can do is acknowledge it, learn how to proceed further and grow with it. That’s all you can do. Nothing else. No matter how big a control freak you are.

What’s the problem?

We envision a certain kind of future and if it doesn’t happen, we feel that everything is going wrong, we curse ourselves for it, we hate our life and as a result, we ruin our present which we could have easily enjoyed by not thinking about our future at the first place.

Quotes on Embracing Life

Is it wrong to envision your future?

No, it is not. In fact, one should envision a life they want to live and work hard for it. What’s wrong is controlling situations, thoughts, and life so that you can have a secure future. That’s where we are wrong. We can’t control everything, only God can.

So why do we live in the future?

Because that gives us hope that things can work out for good and if it does not, it can backfire on us by ruining our present moment. We are in a constant state of anxiety, trying to make it, that we don’t realize we are actually ruining our present, so how can we get a perfect future?

What’s the solution?

The only solution is not controlling everything and let life happen! Life has its own sweet way of surprising us at our lowest and least expected moments. JUST BREATHE, CHILL, HUSTLE HARD AND LIVE YOUR LIFE.

So, let’s not become control freaks and just enjoy this beautiful experience called LIFE.

This is such a positive and uplifting post, I love it. I’ve recently been trying to live more in the moment rather than always worrying about what is coming/what is on my to-do list and this really reflects some of the things I’ve been trying to achieve lately. Great post.

Thank you for your appreciation! And I myself do the same thing sometimes, but then I stop for a second, introspect my life, prioritize things and enjoy every moment!

Wise words. I’ve been guilty of trying to control most things around me.

This is a great reminder to let life happen! We are currently in a situation we want to control…but it is out of our control so this topic is very relevent to us now.

Thank you! So many things aren’t I. Our control except for our positive thinking!

I think the older you get, the better you are able to live in the moment. As a kid, I was a real control freak. Everything had to happen the way I envisioned it in my head, and when it didn’t, it would be ruined for me. I gave myself a lot of bad days as a result. I’m still a planner, but I always leave room for the unexpected and try to roll with it. Getting others to do the same is still a challenge, though.

I still sometimes try to control things and situations around me, but then I realize that this is not how things work. I try to remain calm now. I am developing this thinking that things will eventually work out in the end as they are supposed to.

Time to go with the flow!

Great post! I definitely relate to everything you write about. I like how your post highlights how control negatively impacts our present emotional states. You are absolutely correct; trying to control everything is one of life’s guaranteed failures. In recent years, I have noticed my own relationship with control; and how it impacts my mood daily. It doesn’t have to be a big life-altering possibility; as I noticed that I would become aggravated by seeing a mess in the kitchen or a toilet seat left up. Once I noticed the influence that control was partaking in these small situations, I was able to begin the process of letting go and not caring about the mess or the toilet seats.

Thank you for sharing.

Controlling everything does ruin our mood that’s why we should try to live in the moment because whatever that we can’t control will make us anxious and that will ruin our mood drastically. It’s great that you are trying to live in the moment!! It’s the only thing we should do!!

It is hard for us to accept that we can’t control EVERYTHING and that we can try to prepare for different eventualities but there’s no certainty that things will happen as we plan or wish.

    May 19, 2019 at 6:36 PM

I completely agree with you! We can just control how we feel in the present and not let anything ruin that moment. I am also a big control freak, but recently I am trying to let things happen, let’s see how far I go!!

Giving over control is a big thing for me. I hate not being able to control things, and having my grandparents so sick at the moment makes me so on edge because obviously, I can’t do anything about it. I think a loss of control was part of the reason I fell back into the habit of an eating disorder.

Thank you for very much for writing this. It’s like you’re writing from inside my head if that makes sense.

It’s not only you, it’s basic human nature to control things. But we have to understand that we can’t control everything that happens or will happen around us. All we can control are our way of responding to those situations. I too like to stay in control of things, my thoughts but lately I have been realizing no matter how much I want to, I can’t control everything and let life happen!! It has started to make a difference for me. You can try it as well, it might help you too!!

Sending all the positive vibes for you and your family…
