Purpose of Life

What if the Purpose of Life was not to feel Happy?

We have read/heard/spoken about strive for happiness/ find happiness, or just be happy. And when we are unable to find our purpose of life, i.e. happiness, we feel that maybe we don’t deserve to be happy. Maybe happiness isn’t meant for us.

When we tell ourselves to be happy all the time, we are setting up ourselves for massive disappointment. Now don’t get me wrong, like I’m a thief of joy, I too believe that we all deserve to be happy, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t feel all other emotions.

Being Happy 24*7 is Not Our Purpose of Life

What if our purpose of life was not to feel happy but just TO FEEL? To feel angry, to feel sad, to feel anxious, to feel excited, to feel disheartened, to feel overwhelming, to feel joyful.

There are plenty of emotions that we go through every day and we judge ourselves based on how we feel. When we feel sad, we want that phase to be over soon and just be happy again.

What we are doing in that process is rushing our emotions, hiding our sorrows, and just fake a smile. But our heart takes its own time to recover which we usually don’t give.

Allow Yourself to Feel Every Emotion

Purpose of Life

Allow yourself to feel whatever you are feeling, currently. Without judging yourself or rushing yourself into feeling good soon. Allow yourself to recognize your problem that is causing that uncomfortable emotion and to heal.

If you’ll just keep on rushing your emotions without healing properly, you’ll never be satisfied or be at peace with yourself. Yes, we all feel uncomfortable when we are sad, and yes, we all want to be happy again, but in our own time.

Allow yourself to feel before you heal and be all happy again.

Stop Judging your Emotions

Don't Judge

We are our own harshest critic because we judge ourselves when we feel low and that makes us feel sadder. Leave the judgment for the society, and befriend yourself. It will help you in the longer run.

We all experience day and nights, sunny days and rainy days, thunderstorms, and beautiful rainbows. Similarly, we all go through our own highs and lows.

That’s a human experience that we all should go through. Because if we’ll not face our low moments, we’ll never be able to appreciate our happy moments.

And since everything and everyone is temporary in this universe, so enjoy it while it lasts. Learn from your mistakes/sadness and think about how you can gain a positive perspective from that situation.

Think differently and you’ll see a blessing in every situation!

I totally agree that many people (myself included) avoid feelings we don’t “like”. I also think there are people on the opposite end who are controlled by their emotion and seldom experience”happiness” – which is also tragedy.
I appreciated your reminder to be happy, but don’t forget to feel.

Yes, we should embrace our true selves and feel every emotion because we are only human. And that’s what humans do the best, to feel!
Thank you for sharing your insight on the same!
